The Moonshot Academy (MSA) cultivates independent individuals from comprehensive aspects such as knowledge, ability, and attitude.

According to Dr. Benjamin Bloom, an educational psychologist, knowledge is mainly classified into three types in a broad sense: factual, conceptual, and procedural. Accordingly, MSA rearranges the contents that should be covered by the future-oriented study from the perspective of learning outcomes, and divides them into four levels.

01 Metacognition

It refers to the cognition of thinking and individuals. Simply put, it can be regarded as the habit and ability to observe and reflect our self awareness from the third perspective, such as the abilities to recognize self-capability objectively, to control one’s own emotions and behaviors, and to complete goals on the basis of meta cognition.

02 Core Competencesand Attainment

Core capabilities and competences are key parts in the educational process, including creativity, abilities to cooperate and to communicate, leadership, etc. After graduating from MSA, the students can use these competences as core skills to cope with the complicated and unpredictable future.

Project-based Learning

03 Procedural Knowledge

It represents knowledge application and transfer capacity. With procedural knowledge, students can use algorithms, techniques, and methods to solve problems, such as programming a web crawler software in Python language to capture key information on the internet.

Project-based Learning/Blended Learning

04 Facts and Conceptual Knowledge

It refers to surface level knowledge related to traditional test-oriented education, such as the material composition of human body and the concept of metabolism in biology; the concepts of magnetic field, electric potential, electric potential energy, and electric potential difference in electromagnetism; English grammar and tense, etc.

Blended Learning

Traditional classrooms can hardly fufill the need for various types of knowledge. We need more intersting and effective studying scenarios.

Blended Learning

BL is used mainly for the retention and comprehension of facts and conceptual knowledge. According to blended teaching methods including online learning and offline instruction, students can master all disciplinary knowledge of K12 (kindergarten through twelfth grade). With the support of mentors, each student could establish a knowledge frame that suits his/her development directions.

Project-Based Learning

Knowledge begins from practice. Only when knowledge is associated with the students’ curiosity and needs and used in life and work, can theoretical knowledge be put into practice. PBL can help students break over traditional learning scenarios, and overcome difficulties and solve practical problems by working on projects, thus stimulating them to actively integrate and apply cross-disciplinary knowledge. PBL can also improve students' core competencies, including critical thinking, communication and collaboration, and creativity that can support them adapting to future development.

Deeper Learning

A person’s sustained development depends on his/her intrinsic motivation and ways of thinking. DL can help students to explore themselves for internal and to establish a connection with the outside world for external. In the process of self-exploration, they will figure out the critical philosophical problems: who am I and what do I want to be? In the process to understand the world, they will realize the relationships between themselves and other people, and society and environment, and shape their own values and world views.

In MSA, the bilingual immersive education model creates a language environment for students, teachers, and community members, in which they can apply both Chinese and English fluently. English will be the main language in all courses except eastern philosophy. To help all the students quickly adapt to the English learning environment, we provide ESL (English as a second language) English Language Support Program for ESL students, and help them become lifetime language learners and users as well as GLOCAL citizens in the multicultural society.
